Project Runway Post

So if you're reading this blog it's probably because you like or love fashion. And if this is the case you also probably watch the show Project Runway that comes on Lifetime every Thursday night. The show is in it's 8th season and was created by Heidi Klum. It affords designers the chance to win money to start their line, to appear in Fashion Week and a lot of other dope prizes I can't think of. The judges include Heidi, Michael Kors, and Fashion Director of ELLE magazine, Nina Garcia. Today I wanted to do a post kind of centering Project Runway. My mom surprised me and ordered me this book called The Little Black Book of Style. It was written by Nina Garcia.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through it. The book is a good read.
It doesn't focus so much on fashion as it does style. How to develop your personal style and what not. It mainly emphasises on that. I think it's a great book for anyone trying to break into the industry of styling or being a part of a fashion magazine or anything like that. It has a lot of useful references from people such as: Zac Posen, Diane Von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta and so on and so forth. It also has a lot of cultural and artistic references and lots of things you might not have known about fashion and style. Really good stuff.

I recommend you guys go out and by it. Nina Garcia did a good job!

Oh, and the artwork in here is by Ruben Toledo. Check him out as well.

Now, on another note....
I wanted to touch on my favorite designers of Project Runway this season. I happen to like Andy a lot but I decided only to post on my top 2 and that's Mondo and April.

I really identify with April's aesthetic the most. The rocker glam stuff is right up my alley.
She's the youngest on the show but very skilled, very creative and she's just really cool. Love her.

Oh, my love Mondo. Mondo is my all time favorite. Although I identify with April's design and technique
more, I absolutely adore Mondo and his work. His style is quirky without being too childlike and it's colorful without being too loud and gaudy. I really love his work!

So that concludes my post for today. Wishing you guys a great rest of the week!
