Ima 90s Baby!

Okay so earlier today I was watching Footloose. Great movie, right? It made me think about how much I love 80s fashion and how I really believe I was meant to be born in the 80s. And THEN I got to thinking...how different was fashion in the 90s from fashion in the 80s? 80s fashion was crazy, wild, risk-taking. The 90s was a lot like that, too. I was born in 1992 and coming up I remember wanting to dress like Aaliyah and The Spice Girls. And in the early 2000s fashion did change. From the baggy clothes to the tight, shiny stuff. But this post is dedicated to the good, the bad and the ugly in 90s fashion!
Clair Danes and co-star in the 90s show My So-Called Life
(I actually discovered this show around 05/06. They played re-runs
on The N. (This was when I loved Degrassi).

The Fresh Prince! You had to know he would be apart of this post.
Fresh Prince (Will Smith) and DJ Jazzy Jeff were some of the freshest.

Family Style

As you can see from the picture below, I got my love for looking good and dressing up from my beautiful mother. From rummaging through her vintage 80s wear now to trying to walk in her platform shoes when I was about 9 (trying to obtain the 'Spice Girl' look) my mother has always been a great inspiration as far as style goes. The woman is fabulous. Here's her donning a Jessica Simpson large plaid print wool coat, red faux croc bag from Avon and jewelry is miscellaneous. Today is my lovely mother's birthday. Happy birthday mommy! I love you!

Me in my Jessica Simpson coat. Navy suede with brown faux fur inside.
I adore this coat. (Jessica Simpson has some amazing stuff you guys. Truly.)

My boyfriend, wearing a Hollister tee, American Eagle jeans and gray and white Nike Dunks.

Gray pull-over sweater from Sears.

(Sorry I forgot to get a full body shot on the camera)
Graphic Tee from Hot Topic, Jeans from Cest La Vie, Scarf-Jessica Simpson
Gloves designed by me.

I got some color in my hair this weekend! I love it. What do you guys think?
(Sorry for the quality, this was taken with a phone)
Me and my love at the mall after seeing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and doing a bit of shopping.
It was a great day!

SN:
I really enjoyed the movie. It was VERY depressing but it definitely was a good film overall.
A tip for the ladies, Rupert Grint (Ron) has gotten BUFF.

*raised eyebrow* =) I still don't think he's cuter than the always dashing
Daniel Radcliffe, BUT. I gotta say, he's looking pretty good! Anyway, if
you know what's going on in the series by this time I think you will enjoy the movie.
If you haven't been keeping up you will be LOST. So before going to see it, I suggest
brushing up on the last six movies!

A throwback! I auditioned for my high school (Arts Academy in the Woods) to this song.
So many memories!

So this was a loaded post today but my weekend was eventfulul and I had to let you guys know.
 Have a great week darlings!

Ford is Fashion

Tom Ford's collection in Vogue U.S. December issue.
Everything looks so rich and elegant. J'adore.

I'm swooning for the hair as well. Glam squad!

Love!
SN:
I bought the November issue of US Vogue and I was pleasantly surprised.
It was full of good editorials and campaigns. I also enjoyed Andre Leon Talley's report on up and coming designer LaQuan Smith and Marc Jacobs. J'adore Andre :)

I just realized how hot Bradley Cooper is so enjoy with me.
The Hangover is one of my favorite movies. You can't say you don't love that movie.

I loved Aaliyah's style. I remember being in elementary school wearing the baggy jeans, crop tops and sunglasses. :)

Nine In The Afternoon

Well, today was counter productive. I had plans to get some work done today but alas, I was stood up. Fashion is insanity, though. You can never time it or make it perfect no matter how hard or diligently you plan. I am taking this as the start of what I will be going through for the rest of my life as long as I'm in fashion. I haven't done an outfit post in a while so here you go, guys.
Coat: Guess
Boots: From Underground Station (these are a few years old)
Purse: Gifted
Scarf: Sears
Earrings: Icing

Yes, as an aspiring stylist I have added the beloved Rachel Zoe's book to my reading list.
So far it's pretty good. I die for Rachel! I'll give a full review when I'm finished with Style A to Zoe.

My birthday was yesterday. Waiting until this weekend to celebrate.
Enjoy your week loves!

In Tune, In Style

Today's post is about hip hop and R&B artists who have made amazing fashion statements. Here are some of my favorites.
Pharrell mixing prep with casual. Love his style.

Teyana Taylor for Bleu Magazine.
Out of her element in high heels and a cat suit!

Ciara for Ebony magazine.
Amazing use of accessories.

Ciara for her album Ciara: The Evolution
Futuristic mixed with hip hop. I love it.

Keri Hilson sporting hip hop chic

Keri Hilson in one of the outfits from the
Knock You Down video. J'adore the Chanel leggings.

Nicki Minaj for VIBE magazine.
I actually don't know how to feel about Nicki's style.
It's different which I like but it's also really cooky.
SN:
I have a love/hate relationship with Nicki. She's changed a lot since
I first discovered her like 4 years ago. I still think she's a dope
rapper but all the weird voices and crazy wigs is just distracting from
the fact that her music is lacking the substance it used to have.
Hopefully she gets back to the hood Nicki and finds a way
to also incorporate her new style into it without selling out!

Nicki Minaj for Complex magazine.

T.I. for GQ magazine. He looks so debonair.
T.I. is my best friend in my head. I love him. He's the only rapper that I have bought every one of his albums.
I tried to post this video of Bobby Valentino but it isn't working so here's the link to The B.Lynn group's Tumblr page where it's featured.

Hope you all enjoyed today's post! I'll have an outfit post for you guys soon. One love!

Happy November!

Happy November 1st! Congrats to all of you who are going to spend today cause you just got your checks. I'm still in the process of applying. No luck =( So in the mean time I'm designing these gloves. I'm working very hard. They will be available on Shop Quench by next week so stay tuned! At any rate, I didn't dress up yesterday (sad face). My boyfriend couldn't find anyone to cover his shift so my costume kind of went down the drain. We were going to be the black Carrie & Big from Sex and the City. But I was missing my Mr.Big so I said forget it. I took my son trick-or-treating, though! Here's his costume.

=)

Here's us the day before Halloween. Him in his polo and cargo pants,
Me in my gray faux Charlotte Russe jacket & Jessica Simpson scarf (which I love).

Anyway, today's post was mainly to show off my little boy and to inform you of my current project.
I'm hoping you guys check them out and like them! Enjoy you're week everyone =)
