Fashion Collaborations: Double Trouble

Hello my darlings! Today is a flurry of a day in fashion. Let's begin.

Giambattista Valli for Macy's

WWD who has all the fashion news first, has confirmed news that luxury brand Giambattista Valli is collaborating with Macy's. Giambattista Valli for Impulse will be available October 26th, just two months after Karl Lagerfeld's collection was released. Just in time for the holidays, no?

The collection will be mostly dresses, though. It will also include "edgy" pants, graphic tees, jackets and tops, and mostly in red and black also featuring accents of grey, fuschia and gold.  It will be $50-$150 and be available in 200 Macy’s stores as well as online.

Macy’s says that in November, all four of the luxury designers: Lagerfeld, Valli, Matthew Williamson and Kinder Aggugini, will develop holiday merchandise for the store.  Next spring, they’ll re-visit the program with four new designers. How exciting!

Between Macy's, Barney's, and Sak's, I'd say the department stores are really trying to climb on top of each other with all of the celebrities and major designers they are all collaborating with.

Leigh Lezark "Curating" for H&M

H&M’s stopped just short of declaring the DJ-meets-it-girl their new designer, instead she’ll be charged with curating an H&M shop in shop at Selfridges in London.  It’s the Swedish brand’s first concession and will offer limited edition exclusive runs of product not found at their regular stores.

Lezark will be the first in a series of guest curators to merchandise the space and personally introduce her favorite pieces.  She said of the store, “My philosophy on both beauty and style is to be yourself and find your own style.  Given my hectic schedule I can always find something there that works!”

You’re more likely to see Lezark wearing head-to-toe Valli or Chanel, but she’s had a long relationship with H&M, dating back to her appearance in Roberto Cavalli’s H&M ads in 2007.  She also starred in last year’s Lanvin for H&M campaign.   The pop-up opens August 25th, and if you make it to Selfridges that day you will, of course, catch Lezark DJing.
